thank you. but I have to say subtitles by sugoi squad are terrible.
80% of the subtitles are completely wrong
What the fuck is this? "HAI"? (yes) "YOSHI"?! (Good! not Yoshi ¬_¬) "SUGOI"? (Awesome)
I mean, it is necessary to not translate those words? you think that doing it looks more cool?
Sugoi Squad sure is not sugoi.
these subs are all over the place lol
Yeah it's a brand new sub team, I am sure they will improve. They are undertaking the live special, no small feat.
We wait three weeks for a new episode, and the best they can give us is a fucking APRIL FOOL'S JOKE?!
furrymessiah It wouldn't be so bad if the joke was at least clever or amusing, but it's not.
So awful we only got about 15 minutes in before I was so irritated I couldn't watch any more. Spelling errors all over the place. Peppering the subtitles with untranslated words is the most obnoxious weaboo shit EVER, as is using badly romanized game titles INSTEAD OF JUST TRANSLATING THE FUCKING TITLE (Supelunka?! Are you shitting me?) Anybody remember that "just according to keikaku" meme that went around a few years back poking fun at shitty fansubs? This was actually WORSE. I mean really...Suruka? SURUKA? Does the translator even speak Japanese? Because the rest of the staff certainly fail hard at English. Also really enjoyed the paragraph-length translator's note that was on screen for roughly half a second. Seriously, if I was one of the admins here, I'd pull this piece of shit before potential fans find it and think the entire run has been this terrible.
Considering the comments, I HAVE too watch this now..
It's a confirmed april fools joke. No reason this shouldn't be here, but seeing how it's now April 2nd across the US, perhaps it's time this video is marked correctly.
Here's the confirmation for you

Also I see some anger directed toward the SAGCCX team for doing an april fools joke. (And yes it is them.) Please don't. Translating these episodes takes a lot of work. (Fact checking between Japanese game names and English game names alone is a pretty thankless task.) I'm sure a new episode will be up pretty soon. Let's just let them indulge in a little shenanigans for April Fool's day.
All work and no play and all that rot.
Cripes I'm making so many comments... I was just wondering, is gamingcx planning to move all their videos to dailymotion. I'd understand if you were because you'll probably be safer there, but I hope not. Youtube works great on my phone. ;)
@Furluge FujiTV flagged one of the videos. They will start on dailymotion, then be replaced with youtube as people upload it on youtube.
Um, hmm... I'm Jonesin' for any GCCX I can find, I even started watching the raws on YouTube... when I saw this I was so happy I didn't even notice it was a joke. Well, looking back now, I found it odd that anybody would want Abe's background music, but hey, why not? Either way, thank you very much.
@Furluge Yeah, so...their hard work is appreciated, sure, but a bad joke is a bad joke no matter what effort went into their prior translations. That said, reading the thread on Something Awful makes the whole thing a little more impressive, so it's not all a waste. And I'm sure that their actual honest hard work will continue to be appreciated just the same as it's ever been in spite of the ire regarding this AFD joke. ;)
@Cyberxion
I see that you liked furrymessiah's comment down there. What did you like about that utterly contemptible comment, precisely? I see you also liked ErinMenefee's clueless comment, in which he clearly doesn't get that this was a joke. These facts make it hard to credit your sincerity in this matter. I doubt you really feel that their work should be appreciated if you agree that you shouldn't have to go for THREE WEEKS (!!!!!!) without receiving a new episode, and I doubt you really knew this was an April Fool's day joke until it was directly pointed out.
Here's how I see it: The fact that they've put in so much work to put out high quality translations so quickly has made you and other folks feel entitled to that level of output on a continual basis, you were taken in by an obvious joke, and now you are disingenuously claiming that your only complaint is "it's a bad joke."
@gamingcx
It's quite interesting that this is the first time you've credited the SAGCCX team. I guess you don't mind distancing yourself from something people seem to dislike, but don't mind much if folks might think you are responsible for the real subs. It's nice that you're making gamecenter cx available for more people to watch, but this seems like pretty shabby behavior to me.
To be fair, I think I've seen gamingcx give credit to the SAGCCX team in reply to people who thank them in the comments, but I doubt many people actually read the comments. If you honestly don't want people to make that mistake, why don't you actually credit them in the text above or below the video? The only reason I can think of is that you are intentionally trying to mislead people.
@hhhhhhhhhh Since it wasn't actually indicated that it was a joke at the time I posted the below comment, I don't think it was especially "clueless" since these kinds of fansubs actually exist. The joke wouldn't have worked were that not the case. So you can go ahead and take your unwarranted internet smugness and shove it right up your ass.
That being said, I totally concede I fell for it and am glad it was a prank (one that required quite a lot of effort, no less)!
@hhhhhhhhhh @gamingcx Every single episode ends with "Another fine product of the SA GCCX Team" and every single person that erroneously thanks Gaming CX is corrected in the comments section. They could point this out in giant flashing letters and people would still miss it.
The only "shabby behavior" I've noticed lately is what you've exhibited in this comments section. Hopefully you've worked out whatever deep-rooted need you had to pop in and act like a douche and have moved on.
@ErinMenefee
Eh, I guess maybe it was a bit unfair. I am not familiar enough with fansubs, and it's possible that some of them are nearly that bad. But it would be so much of a coincidence for a new group to start subbing on this particular date and for them to pick such a bad starting point, an episode which is mainly just him making the same jump and dying over and over, and to have the subs be so outrageously bad in so many different ways.
I think your reaction to a single word used in a comment not directed at you was a bit excessive, but I will grudgingly retract the one word, "clueless," in order to keep the peace.
IMaybe I am wrong, but I don't think many people read the comments. Wouldn't it be far more effective and far less work to put in some text making it clear that someone else is responsible for the video as opposed to replying to individual comments?
@hhhhhhhhhh Fair enough. I certainly can't begrudge someone for being reasonable, so I apologize for the antagonistic tone of my responses.
@hhhhhhhhhh My point was that it's not just indicated in the comments, but at the end of every video as well. If someone doesn't know that Gaming CX only hosts these videos after all that, they're either hopelessly clueless or going out of their way to not pay attention. In either scenario, do you honestly think they'll notice a credit at the bottom of every post? GCX could have a giant flashing disclaimer before every video and people would still blow past it to get what they're after. That they take the time to correct people at all is enough for me.
@hhhhhhhhhh I noticed this sentiment going around on the SA thread, and since I'm not about to pay a fee to join a forum, I will note that they've been putting up this message on the video descriptions on youtube.

GameCenter CX Subs by Something Awful GCCX Team: zari-gani, Nagoyan, ShinYaguchi, Random Stranger, miscellaneous14 & Gutcruncher and Clover Fansubs
It probably would be easier to just copy the comment onto the website as well. I imagine that will be coming in the future. I think it's more likely that it's missing due to laziness that maliciousness, and they probably just don't feel like going back through every posting on the site and adding it there too.
Also I would point out that GamingCX, while they aren't producing the subs, they are still producing something. Maintaining a streaming archive which will inevitably be filled with holes as Fuji TV sends takedown notices, they also risk their accounts being shut down, on top of the time it maintain all the links and upload all the videos. This show is going to get infinitely more distribution on steaming sites than it will if we have to trust people to stumble upon the Something Awful forums and then download entire episodes.
How is this an April Fool joke? This is a legitimate special and should be treated as such. Let's see the subsequent hours.
@BaccarWozat It's an April Fools joke because the subtitles are largely made up wholesale. To quote the subtitler...
"For those curious, the entire "translation" is made up wholesale. I just tried to make lines fit the video, were kind of funny when people laughed after them, and occasionally tried to get them to match up with a word or two that was spoken."
That being said even if it was a joke, I was happy to see this regardless. It's probably my only chance to see any of this since it is indeed so very boring to watch it straight and unedited.
Interesting. However, it seemed as if it was correct anyway, misspellings and "Hais" notwithstanding.
I notice that when watching the unsubbed episodes, we tend to insert what we think they are saying into the gaps, that when translated later on, aren't very far off the mark.
So, until translated "properly" this will go into the collection anyway. Maybe when they do a "legit" version they'll do parts 2 and 3 first.
@hhhhhhhhhh I agreed with Erin because he summed up how I felt about Weaboo subtitle groups. I agreed with the other guy simply because I thought the AFD gag was in bad taste, though I had no idea that SA was behind it at the time. It wouldn't have changed my mind one bit though. Like I said, a crap joke is a crap joke is a crap joke. In fact, I only responded to that guy up there because I take issue with the idea that he thinks he's qualified to tell anyone how they ought to feel about the joke one way or the other, and thought it was ridiculous of him to suggest that being upset by it is to be ignorant or unappreciative of the work that goes into their legitimate efforts. Unlike you though, I can address someone in a reasonable tone. I don't have to fly off the handle. Well, unless I'm provoked of course, and then all bets are off, and even them I'll probably take the high road because I'm not a scummy little prick by nature or by design. Neither Something Awful's prior output nor their timeliness was ever called into question. That's crap that you read into my Likes and my sole post on the subject in order to justify being a self-righteous, finger-waving prick to me for no good reason. Well done. You should feel really great about that. People like you seriously disgust me. You so lack even the tiniest bit of authority in your offline lives that you go online and and act like insufferable douche-bags from behind the safety and anonymity of your screen-names, and you do it just so that you can feel like your existences aren't totally meaningless. I'm tired of it. There was no reason why you couldn't have given me the benefit of the doubt and ask questions of me. Instead you chose to assume the worst and used it as a jumping-off point for acting like an outright prick, just so that you could catch the oh-so-intoxicating sense of superiority that you so sorely need in your life. Well fuck that. I'm not responsible for your problems, and I'm sure as hell not going to bear the brunt of your frustration with your life. Take it out on your parents, or your bully, or whomever or whatever the hell is making your life miserable, but don't you ever dare take it out on me again, you got it? Please tell me that we have an understanding here.And listen, if you can't be bothered to treat me with some respect and make a sincere attempt at reasonable discourse when you address me in the future, then don't bother responding to me at all. I'm not exactly in a very emotionally stable place right now, what with just having been laid off just last week. The last thing that I need at the moment is for some faceless mouth-breather to fly off the handle at me like a fucking psychopath for no good reason. Either we talk like two adults, or we don't talk at all. Got it? Thanks. @ErinMenefee I don't think that you should apologize. You had every right to react the way you did. Besides, it just empowers internet bullies like this one to keep doing what they do when you apologize for their behavior, and we really don't need more of this shit.

@hhhhhhhhhh By the way, LiveFyre won't retain my paragraphs for some reason. I thought I'd mention it first and save us both the headache. Yeah, it's a huge wall of text, but it's a huge wall of text by no fault of my own.

For some reason Livefyre isn't retaining my paragraphs, so I inserted a bunch of lines in there to help separate them instead. It looks tacky, but at least it's not a huge wall of text any longer...
@Furluge @hhhhhhhhhh
>"Since I'm not about to pay a fee to join a forum."
This, all of it. GamingCX is my only source for GCCX. I'm not going to pay to go to SA; I've never gone there, in fact. Even before they started charging.
@furrymessiah Erm, they're not asking you to sign up though. I just got the latest episode before it went up here, and I didn't have to be a member to grab it.
I can't say that I did 'em any favors, but the point is that SA doesn't charge you a dime to download these things if you want to.
@furrymessiah They're not asking you to even sign up, much less pay them. I got the newest episode before it went up here, and it didn't cost me a dime.
I think you should kinda check the site out. It's not as bad as you think it is. Seriously. ;)
@Furluge
Then why waste such effort and time to do a HUGE aprils fools that FOOLS people that waits a episode of GCCX? they could do ten million of other things instead, but no, they translate an entire episode!
I hope they re-translate and waste more time and effort just for the sake of their pride being good translators.
I can't believe some of you people. I mean we've all seen that "Arguing on the Internet is like the Special Olympics... you're a retard!" meme, but fuck, this is just stupid. Don't you have anything better to do? In the time it took you to write some of these uselessly long comments, you could have learned 10 new kanji and moved one step closer to being at a point where you'd be able to contribute. Fuck, if I had a 10 yen piece for every ingrate on the internet... For my part, thank you GamingCX crew, I'm eternally grateful for all that you're doing.
@ORDLJU Nice uselessly long comment you wrote there. You probably could have learned 10 new kanji in the time it took you to write it. Hell, you might even have been able to contribute! Unfortunately, you were arguing on the internet.
With the exception of one dude, nobody was actually being ungrateful towards the SA GCCX team. They were pissed because this episode (which appeared to be subbed by a different group) seemingly didn't meet the excellent standards their previous translations established. Also, Gaming CX hosts the videos. They're not involved in the localization process.
@ORDLJU I'm pretty sure I couldn't learn ten new kanji in the time it takes me to write a fairly longish comment. Now maybe some of you hunt and peck typists out there, not me.
@Fei Wong Well again, it was one member who did it with a little bit of his spare time. I imagine it didn't take too long. Also since this came out two more episodes were released.
As for why: For the lulz
